Consumer cloud storage: price per terabyte

Dropbox, Google Drive and iCloud make pricing hard to compare across different storage sizes. We normalize everything to €/terabyte per month so you see true value. Also includes end-to-end encryption and server location — decisive for privacy-conscious users.

How does the comparison work?

€/terabyte per month = monthly price divided by storage. It reveals that e.g. a 100 GB plan can be many times more expensive per terabyte than a 2 TB plan. For unlimited plans (Jottacloud Pro) €/TB cannot be calculated. Prices are consumer prices including VAT — the amount you actually pay.

Encryption and location. End-to-end encryption (E2E) means the provider cannot access your files — Proton Drive and MEGA offer it by default, pCloud as an add-on, and Apple iCloud optionally (Advanced Data Protection). Dropbox, Google, Microsoft and Jottacloud do not encrypt end-to-end. Server location determines jurisdiction: EU/EEA (Jottacloud, pCloud EU option, Proton) falls under GDPR; US providers (Dropbox, Google, iCloud, OneDrive) do not in the same way.
