Integrations & automation: the unit matters, not the list price

Zapier bills tasks (1 action), Make bills operations (including trigger polling and iterations!), n8n bills executions (whole workflow = 1), and Activepieces bills by flow count (unlimited runs). The same workflow can consume 10–100× different units across platforms — so the calculator asks for your runs and steps and shows whether the cheapest tier fits.

⚠︎ Unit trap: cheapest list price can be most expensive

Make's $9/mo (10,000 ops) looks like a fraction of Zapier's $19.99 (750 tasks) — but Make also counts trigger checks and every iteration. n8n counts the whole run as one: a 100-step workflow uses 1 unit on n8n, ~100 on Zapier. The calculator above does this conversion for you. Fivetran and Airbyte are ETL tools (data to warehouse) — different product category; MAR/volume does not compare to tasks. Workato does not publish pricing.

How to choose?

Many runs, simple flows: IFTTT ($2.99/mo, unlimited runs) or Activepieces (10 flows free, unlimited runs). Complex workflows: n8n — execution model makes a 50-step run cheap; self-host €0. Widest app catalog: Zapier (~8,000 apps) charges for that breadth. Technical team: Make (cheap units, EU datacenter) or Pipedream (code steps). Remember annual billing: monthly prices are 15–50% higher.
